Details
Founded in 1729, Ruinart boasts the exalted title of the oldest House in Champagne.
Taking its name from the founder’s uncle, Dom Thierry Ruinart (a close friend of none other than Dom Pérignon himself), Ruinart certainly still lives up to its prestigious reputation.
Ruinart is the oldest producer of Champagne and makes one of the best non-vintage blends, a stunning Blanc de Blancs, one of the best Rosés, and a range of prestige cuvées in Dom Ruinart which are second to none, and yet it still manages to retain a low profile with nothing like the reputation of its lesser rivals.
Orange colour with a copperish tinge and veering towards the colour of cognac. Beautiful clarity and striking brilliance. Constant stream of fine bubbles rising to the surface.
A complex and rich nose whose variety of aromas evolves with the temperature of the wine. The first nose is dominated by hints of soft and cooked fruits; followed by smoky notes, Virginia tobacco and tanned leather.
Full-bodied and powerful. Rich and complex aromas on the nose are confirmed in the mouth with a perfect balance between fruity notes, tobacco and spices. Long and persistent finish.
Blend of 85% Grand Cru Chardonnay and 15% Grand Cru Pinot Noir from Verzenay and Verzy fully vinified as red wine.
