Nice browning tawny colour with golden hues; very complex aromas of dried fruits, toasted crystalised sweets and nuts; unctuous and very rich in the mouth with long, nutty finish.

Krohn are a small family-owned house run by brother and sister Jose and iolanda Carneiro. Long renowned for the quality of their sublime Colheitas (single vintage tawnies), they produce a remarkably complete range for a small house and each wine excels in its category.

The Quinta do Retiro Novo estate in Sarzedinho, in the Rio Torto valley, is all A grade vineyard. Vinification takes place here, with some of the top wines still being trodden by foot. All the wines are matured in cellars at Villa Nova de Gaia.

Drink at cool room temperature (or even lightly chilled in the summer) after a meal with tarts and cakes made of almonds, chestnuts, chocolate or red fruits; creme brule and cheese - creamy cheeses like Brie, Camembert, Brillat-Savarin from France, or Bel Paese and Moscarpone from Italy.
