Great value wine - layers of ripe spicy fruit.
A ripe, open nose of black fruit - ripe plums and blackberries. Warm and spicy on the palate, with mouthfilling red fruit and a chocolate and liquorice edge.
Bodegas Juan Gil, with a century of wine-growing history in the harsh climate of the Jumilla region, use some of their Monastrell and Syrah fruit from vineyards on the slopes of the Penarubia mountain to produce some wine solely for us. These grapes, from 20 to 30 year old vines in Jumilla, produce wines with plenty of fruit and character.
Bodegas Juan Gil own about 400 hectares of vineyards between 700 and 850 metres above sea level. Monastrell is the main varietal grown, but also Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Vinification is carried out at the winery in the heart of the Juan Gil vineyard area.
Will match up with rich pasta dishes with salami or ham, or a premium, meat-rich, lasagna with layers of meatballs and slices of pepperami in the mix! Sunny weather? - perfect for barbecues too.
