There are plenty of lovers of the famous Yellow Label who refuse point blank to drink anything else. A stunning non vintage with great body and roundness, it never disappoints.
Lingering fruity flavours of apple and pear on the palate create a fresh, harmonious and lively Champagne.
Grapes from as many as 60 vineyards make up the Yellow label blend. Usually the proportion of each grape variety is around 55% Pinot Noir, 15% Pinot Meunier and 30% Chardonnay. The chief blender will draw on reserve wines to form the cuvee. Each of these older wines (some up to 8 years old) are used to maintain consistency year after year.
Madame Clicquot's wine displays a superb marriage of freshness and power, gorgeous and deceptively pale colour with fine, persistent bubbles - a poised, delicately bready nose - and on the palate a richness of fruit and mouth filling mousse that lingers long. Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label manages to reconcile two opposing factors - forcefulness and finesse - and to hold them in perfect balance.
This consistent power to please makes it ideal as an aperitif, and perfect as the Champagne to enjoy with a meal.
Champagne & Sparkling Wines
The secret to Champagne bubbles comes from the addition of a special mixture of sugar and wine called the ‘liqueur d’expedition’. This is what makes the bubbles. Sparkling wines have bubbles and high acidity and range from white, rosé to red in colour. Sparkling wines have been long associated as a celebratory beverage, but actually match with a wide variety of foods.
