The 07 Mud House Pinot is all from vineyards in the Wairau Valley,about 60% were from the Conders Bend area (Riversleigh, Maginess, Joslin) and the rest are scatted through the valley.
Sweet lifted aromas of cherries and plums with a hint of currants and integrated savoury and toasty oak notes.
A medium-bodied, easy drinking wine with a soft, full palate and balanced acidity. Cherry and savoury flavours dominate, supported by hints of plum and red currant.

The wine was matured in French barriques, a quarter of these were new, thus the oak influence is complimentary, allowing the fruit to shine. In style this Syrah is beguiling, softly textured with an elegant, well fruited finish.

Tinpot Hut Hawkes Bay Syrah~This Hawkes Bay wine is a great example of the style becoming typical of the region, offering rich black fruits, a balancing acidity and a lovely spicy, peppery finish…~A ruby red wine with violet highlights. On the nose there are aromas of white and black pepper, red and black berry fruits and a subtle chocolate and leather spiciness.
On the palate the wine is plummy, with pepper and cinnamon notes. It has a firm acid backbone with silky tannins and lots of ripe fruit on the finish.

Bright ruby red in colour. Savoury spice notes are accented by perfumed aromas of violets, red cherry, blackberry and ruby grapefruit on the nose. Complex flavours of cherry, root spice, smoke and florals predominate the textural and creamy palate. The finish is long with redfruit and spice drawn out by the fine, silky tannin structure.

Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir~The palate is supple and fine with a delicious plummy fruit character layered over charry oak and delicate tannins…~Opulent aromas of dark plums and cardamom spice are enhanced by the earthy scent of liquorice and hints of smoky oak. The palate is highly concentrated with black cherry and red berry flavours supported by silky tannins through to a long and generous finish. The 2005 Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir reflects an idyllic Marlborough vintage and will continue to gain additional complexity over 4 to 5 years if cellared in ideal conditions.
Grapes for this wine were sourced from the southern side of the Wairau Valley including the Brancott, Fairhall and Ben Morven sub-regions. The soils, including the aged alluvial gravels of the Brancott Valley, are relatively free draining, with some clay content.
The winery takes its name from the bay at the eastern extremity of the Wairau Valley. It was named Cloudy Bay by Captain Cook on his voyage to New Zealand in 1770.
