Dry, light bodied and oaked; a Pinot with earthiness and depth to wallow in. The pristine cool-climate along with long sun drenched days allowed the fruit to ripen magnificently and produce aromas of deep red cherry, blackberry and cocoa. In the mouth the Squealing Pig is rich and generous with velvet like tannins and a wonderful, long finish. A deliciously drinkable Pinot for the Summer!

Squealing Pig is a range of wines that originated in New Zealand and has spread first to Australia and then to Europe. The whole range is produced under the supervision of top New Zealand winemaker Spring Timlin, who for many years was the chief winemaker at Matua. We recently stocked the Primitivo version, albeit at a slightly cheaper price and it sold out (twice) rather quickly! The Malbec is also very nice, they know what they are doing at this winemaking establishment!

Nicest Pinot Noir I've Had For Years

A bit like I remember red Burgundy back in the 1980s, before it all started tasting of strawberry juice. At the price it's a real bargain. Have now bought my third case of six (says it all).

Definitely not wee wee

(2020 £6.95) I'm in a quandry on this one and don't know NZ PN well enough to resolve (only drunk about 10). It has plenty of yummy fruit, I wouldn't call it light - seems quite deep, brooding and intense for PN to me, appropriate acidity, evolving (?) tannins which give it sharp elbows at this moment - though they behave better after it's been open a day. I think this is going to develop over the next 5+ years and maybe become something quite special. PN at £7 with that potential...
