Intense ruby colour. Nose: intense aromas of raspberry, blackberry and strawberry. Light, pleasant vegetable and spicy notes of cinnamon and clovers. Flavour: This wine clearly expresses the distinctive characters of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. Perfect correspondence from nose to mouth. Full and fruity structure. It is a gentle and spontaneous wine, whose tannins, not aggressive, are soft and velvety; great aromatic persistence.
The estate has been producing wine since 1890 and is now run by 4th generation Gianluca and Fabrizio Galasso. Their vineyard is located 20 km from Gran Sasso (the highest mountain in the Apennines at 3000m asl) and the imposing mountain forms an impressive background to the vines. The vineyard is also 20 kms from the sea. This ideal position between sea and mountain provides the necessary variations in temperature, as well as the gentle breezes that create favourable air circulation, which help the grapes to grow healthily. Even the soil has unique characteristics, thanks to its clay-limestone texture and the spring water which flows in abundance beneath the soil. As far as the eye can see are row after row of vines, interlaced with small country paths lined with cypress trees, and dotted with old farmhouses, which have been carefully renovated to accommodate our guests.
Perfect with pasta dishes with meat or tomato sauces, pizza, grilled and barbecued meats, cheese dishes.
